“SACRED ELEPHANT” steps onto the New York stage…
This critically acclaimed Solo Performance, first seen in Cape Town in 2012, is now confirmed to appear in New York City, at La MaMa’s renowned venue THE FIRST FLOOR THEATRE at 74 East 4th Street, in September 2013.
The show is adapted for the stage by Geoffrey Hyland and Jeremy Crutchley from the epic work by Heathcote Williams. While the immediate and essential subject is the life and soul of the Elephant, the monologue ultimately explores an extraordinary, passionate and historic tension – sounding out the very life and soul of Man.
Geoffrey Hyland, who directed the original performance, will direct again in New York. Jeremy would like to thank BuyArt(R) for their faith and support in this project. This independent SheerNerve Production is by arrangement with the Summer Shares at La MaMa. The dates for the USA Premiere run from the 2nd to the 22nd of September 2013.
